Fuzz Tone Psychedelic Show (New EP)

The Space Sharks have always been about capturing a moment in time, a philosophy that is more evident than ever on our latest release. This detailed look at our discography explores how we transitioned from the power-trio foundations of our 2011 self-titled debut to the complex, experimental textures of our newest EP. When Lonnie Richard founded the band, the goal was simple: make music that hits the listener in the gut. This meant avoiding the sterile, over-rehearsed atmosphere of modern digital recordings. Instead, we embrace the 'first or second take' rule. This approach ensures that the spark, the energy, and even the beautiful mistakes stay in the final mix. On the self-titled debut, songs like 'Run For Cover' showcased this raw energy, while 'Perfect' proved that the band could balance acoustic sensitivity with electric power. The album was masterfully polished by Jonathan Wyner, who brought the same crisp, big sound he provided for legends like Aerosmith and David Bowie. Moving into 'Love Bomb' and 'Space Songs,' we began to experiment more with studio technology, but always with a vintage heart. This evolution culminated in the 'Fuzz Tone Psychedelic Show' EP. Recorded across Baltimore and Boston, this EP is an invitation to a party. 'Mean Tambourine' sets the stage with fuzzed-out guitar solos that feel both nostalgic and entirely new. We aren't just playing rock; we are exploring the boundaries of the genre. On 'Driving Me Sane,' Mike Martino pushes the envelope by playing in 4/4 time while Lonnie counters in 7/8, creating a tension that builds into a literal wall of guitars. This track also features the vintage synth effects of Bump, adding an otherworldly layer that earns us the 'Space' in our name. We believe the listener deserves an immersive experience, which is why we utilize extreme panning effects and layered vocals from Brian Harrigan and Mike Martino. This isn't background music; it is a sonic journey designed for headphones. 'Feels Like' brings a punk-rock vibe that shifts into a hypnotic mantra, proving our versatility. We close out with 'Influencing Machine,' a track that fuses funk and hard rock into something uniquely quirky. We invite you to stay a while, listen closely, and then press play again. This journey from 2010 to the present is a testament to our fans who have supported our 'live feel' recordings. We are forever grateful for the love shown on Facebook and YouTube, and we promise to keep bringing you the loud, melodic madness that defines The Space Sharks.
